The plan is to project on dunes, live code sounds and visuals, and dance in the dunes and projections.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Location<\/strong> &#8211; UAE empty quarter (part of the largest dune sea in the world):<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"emptyQuarter\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/517090384?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"584\" height=\"307\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Scouting<\/strong> &#8211; We rented a 4&#215;4 and go out during the day each day to scout locations to work with at night. We brought a deep cycle boat battery and an inverter to run power for the projector and sound equipment.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/aaron-sherwood.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/IMG_2752.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2323\" height=\"1389\" \/><\/p>\n<p>All sounds are generated in real-time with my bansuri flute going through the live coding sound environment\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/tidalcycles.org\/Welcome\"><u>Tidalcycles<\/u><\/a>. I love Tidal, it&#8217;s really easy to improvise in and generate some amazing sounds quickly. It&#8217;s built with Haskell and uses Supercollider as a backend.\u00a0I&#8217;m using the great <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/thgrund\/tidal-looper\"><u>tidal-looper<\/u><\/a> library to sample my flute sounds in real-time to manipulate them in Tidal.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" style=\"color: #333333; font-style: normal; font-weight: 300;\" src=\"http:\/\/aaron-sherwood.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/IMG_4334.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"4032\" height=\"3024\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/aaron-sherwood.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/IMG_4107.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"4032\" height=\"3024\" \/><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"setup\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/517090606?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"584\" height=\"329\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Results Day 1<\/strong>: The results were not very great for day 1. We learned that projecting upwards towards a dune slanting away from the projector is not such a good strategy. We experimented with projecting some water video as well as just the code.
