MIZARU Performance The title Mizaru is the name of one of the three wise monkeys “Mizaru, Kikazaru, Iwazaru” in Japanese culture, better known in English as See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil. Developed by Purring Tiger (a collaboration between Kiori Kawai and myself) as Artists in Residence at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center, MIZARU explores society's relationship with death. Oddly, by accepting our own mortality we actually become more alive, knowing we could die at any moment makes every moment special. The piece brings the audience on this journey from life to death and back again.
